"My programs are built by weaving together:

  • the voices of neurodivergent communities,

  • Autistic participatory research,

  • two decades of working with neurodivergent people,

  • a lifetime of navigating the normative world as a multi-neurodivergent person and

  • parenting grown up neurodivergent children.

My programs are more than just learning. They are about joining together to create a community of growth, connection and social change. A community where research on flourishing meets authentic neurodivergent culture to create better futures for us all".

"Embracing my children's, and then my own, Autistic and Neurodivergent identities changed my parenting and professional practice profoundly.

I now teach people to apply developmental science which is how people grow and flourish, through a neurodivergent-affirming lens and provide safe and responsive support that changes people's lives"

~ Kate

Hello! I'm Kate!

With 25 years of professional experience in the disability and educational sectors, and a lifetime of lived experience, I provide uniquely authentic, compassionate neurodivergent affirming education and support.

I support parents, carers, and professionals to implement evidence-based neurodivergent affirming practices and to develop their neurodivergent affirming lens through online courses, specialised small group training, professional development and public speaking.

As a neurodivergent person, parent of neurodivergent kids, and community member who is immersed in my neurodivergent community, I want to be part of the change towards a society where neurodivergent people are valued and supported to flourish.

As an Autistic researcher at Flinders University, I co-lead lived experience research to improve the lives of Autistic young people. I bring critical thinking, intersectionality and social justice to my work as individuals do not exist in isolation. How one is connected to other people, cultural groups and systems influences how a person experiences their life. We all experience a unique mix of privilege and marginalisation.

I love being part of creating new systems and change, because what we leave for our next generations is just as important as the life we're living now.

Neurodivergent-affirming practices support flourishing by meeting needs and addressing barriers

Infographic showing six principles of a neurodiversity-affirming approach, arranged in a flower shape.

Why is this so important?

Research shows that neurodivergent people currently have poor life outcomes in all areas and that these outcomes are modifiable if we change the way we provide support.

Let's work together to create that change towards providing neurodivergent-affirming education and care which:

  • Embraces and values the natural diversity of human brains and bodies

  • Is responsive to meeting individual needs

  • Accommodates sensory, executive functioning and emotional regulation needs
  •  Supports both strengths and challenges of individuals

  • Changes and saves lives

Needs Met ~ Barriers Removed ~ Authenticity Embraced ~ Development Thrives ~ Futures Empowered

The Multi Neurodivergent Bus Workbook

Sometimes it can difficult to know which tool or strategy to use to support your ADHDer. In this workbook we use a bus analogy to identify which ADHD traits are leading or dominant in a given situation. This helps us to identify what the current needs are and how to best meet them.

Neurodivergent Education operates on unceded Kaurna Yerta. This Country always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We are committed to the amplification of First Nation voices and decolonisation in our work as we pay our respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people from the lands and waters of South Australia, Australia and internationally.

Neurodivergent Education is an Autistic led and run social enterprise that is neurodivergent affirming in all aspects. We genuinely care about neurodivergent wellbeing and actively contribute towards social change. We are committed to learning from, and with, neurodivergent communities so we can continue to evolve to better meet the needs of our community and foster neurodivergent flourishing.

Neurodivergent Education actively supports and engages with LGBTQIA+ and queer communities and organisations to remain responsive. We have direct lived experience input in all levels of decision-making and have queer staff members on our team. We acknowledge the overlap between neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ and queer communities.
